SPINAL EPIDURAL ABSCESS

A collection of pus or infection located in the epidural space.

SPONDYLOLISTHESIS

A slippage or misalignment of the spine.  Usually the result of arthritis to the supporting ligaments of the spine.  Can also result from a “pars” fracture.

SPONDYLOLYSIS

A fracture of the pars interarticularis (the piece of bone connecting the front and back of the spinal column).  Will often result in a “slip” or misalignment of the spine.  Can result from repeated injury or arthritis of the ligaments.

SPONDYLOSIS

Arthritis of the spine.  Can involve the cervical, thoracic, or lumbar spine.

STENOSIS

A narrowing of the spinal canal.  Usually graded as mild, moderate, or severe.

T1 (spine)

The first upper thoracic vertebra.

T10 (spine)

The tenth thoracic vertebra.

T11 (spine)

The eleventh thoracic vertebra.

T12 (spine)

The twelfth thoracic vertebra.

T2 (spine)

The second thoracic vertebra.
