T1

An MRI sequence or technique that is used to analyze tissue in the body. Often T1 is good at picking up fat, blood, and protein making it appear white on MR scans.

T1 (spine)

The first upper thoracic vertebra.

T1 SHORTENING

Refers to the appearance of tissue on MRI as a “white spot”. T1 shortening can occur as a result of contrast dye turning the tissue white or any disease that turns tissue white such as blood or protein material.

T10 (spine)

The tenth thoracic vertebra.

T11 (spine)

The eleventh thoracic vertebra.

T12 (spine)

The twelfth thoracic vertebra.

T2

An MRI sequence or technique that is used to analyze tissue in the body. Often T2 is good at picking up fluid, water, and certain blood products making it appear white on MR scans.

T2 (spine)

The second thoracic vertebra.

T2 HYPERINTENSITY

Refers to tissue that looks bright on MR scans. This helps to characterize tissue as normal, blood, protein or fat.

T2 STAR

Also called “T2*”. It is good at picking up material related to blood products, calcium, or iron making appear as a dark spot on MR scans.
