FORAMINAL DISC HERNIATION
The disc is directed towards the side of the spine where the nerve roots exit the spinal canal. A disc in this location will cause a “radiculopathy” or a shooting, electric pain or sensation down the body or extremity.
HEMANGIOMA
Noncancerous growth consisting of a tangle of tiny blood vessels. Is usually of no consequence and does not cause symptoms unless they get really large.
HEMATOMA
A pocket of blood. This can be caused by trauma.
HERNIATION
An abnormal bulging or pinching of the disc. They are usually classified as protrusions, bulges, or extrusions.
HETEROGENEOUS
Adjective. Blotchy, non-uniform appearance. Is the opposite of Homogeneous.
HOMOGENEOUS
A uniform or consistent appearance. Is the opposite of heterogeneous
IDIOPATHIC
Of unknown cause.
JOINT
A connection between bone. Always contains a synovium, or a lubricant liquid to prevent the bones from touching each other. Arthritis can affect the joint as well as a variety of other conditions.
KYPHOSIS
Refers to the normal curvature of the thoracic spine. Mutiple thoracic vertebral fractures can alter the kyphosis and cause you to look like you are hunched over.
