UNCOVERTEBRAL SPURRING

These are arthritic changes that occur in the small joints of the neck.  They can press on a nerve and cause pain or numbness.

TRANSVERSE PROCESS

The portion of the vertebra (backbone) that points towards the side.  There are two transverse processes, or pieces, in each vertebra, the right and the left.

TRANSITIONAL ANATOMY

Unusual anatomy which you are born with. It is usually of no consequence unless you are having surgery or spinal procedures such as a steroid shot or surgery.  Make sure to let your doctor know you have transitional anatomy.  Occasionally it can lead to back pain.

THORACIC

The mid portion of your back or spine between the cervical and lumbar levels.  Is composed of 12 Thoracic vertebrae.

T9 (spine)

The ninth thoracic vertebra.

T8 (spine)

The eighth thoracic vertebra.

T7 (spine)

The seventh thoracic vertebra.

T6 (spine)

The sixth thoracic vertebra.

T5 (spine)

The fifth thoracic vertebra.

T4 (spine)

The fourth thoracic vertebra.
