NASAL SEPTUM DEVIATION

The bone in the middle of the nasal cavity is deviated, or “bent”, to one side.

NASAL SEPTUM SPUR

A bony outpouching arising from the middle of the nose that can impinge, or “push”, on the nasal tissue and cause problems with breathing.

NASOPHARYNX

Located in the back of the mouth where the tissues of the nose and mouth meet.  It joins the esophagus, or swallowing tube, that leads to the stomach.

NECROTIC LYMPH NODE

A lymph node that has fluid or pus in it’s center.  It can be related to infection or cancer.

NODE OF ROUVIERE

A lymph node in the upper neck also known as a lateral pharyngeal node.  It can become infected, inflamed, or even cancerous.

ODONTOGENIC ABSCESS

A collection of pus or infection coming from the tooth.

ODONTOID

A process related to the tooth.

OROPHAYRYNX

Located below the nasopharynx and above the hypopharynx.  This space contains the tissue that help in swallowing and forming food before it travels to the esophagus, or swallowing tube.

OSSIFYING FIBROMA OF THE SINUS

A benign or non-cancerous tumor of the bone.   It is usually of no concern and does not cause symptoms.

OSTEOMA

A bone formation located within the sinus bones.  Most often they are located in the frontal, followed by the ethmoid sinuses.  These are benign and slow growing.  They are usually of no consequence.
