REACTIVE LYMPH NODE
Enlarged lymph nodes related to infection or inflammation. Are benign and not cancerous. Most commonly occur in the younger population.
RECURRENT LARYNGEAL NERVE
An important nerve in the neck, usually on the left side, that helps to control the vocal cords. A problem of the nerve can lead to a hoarse voice. A CT of the neck can help to make sure there is no mass or tumor causing the problem.
RENAL
Related to kidney.
RENAL CELL CARCINOMA
Cancer of the kidney.
RENAL PELVIS
Central part of the kidney where urine collects and drains into the ureter.
RESECTION
To cut away or remove.
RESTRICTED DIFFUSION
A bright spot on diffusion MR images. This often represents an area of dead brain or stroke.
RETENTION CYST
Also called a “mucous” retention cyst. A collection of fluid usually occurring in the sinuses. On CAT scan, retention cyst can look like polyps.
RETROLISTHESIS
Slippage of spine bone backwards.
RETROPERITONEAL
Means behind the peritoneum (a thin membrane or sac that contains the abdominal organs).
