PERIVASCULAR SPACE
A normal structure in the brain. It is normal fluid that wraps around a blood vessel. A Perivascular space is also known as a Virchow-Robin space.
PERIVENTRICULAR
Located next to the ventricle. “Periventricular white matter” refers the white matter next to the ventricles.
PERMEATIVE
Bone destruction with “moth-eaten” appearance. Usually a sign of serious underlying bony abnormality such as cancer or bad infection.
PET SCAN
Type of Nuclear Medicine exam which is excellent at detecting many types of cancer in your body. Cancers that use a lot of sugar are detected by this study. Doctors will often use this exam to determine how much cancer has spread in your body, which helps in planning the treatment strategy.
