OSTOMY
Putting a hole in the body to remove the contents inside the body part. For example, colostomy means draining stool from the colon to a bag outside the body. Nephrostomy means draining urine from the kidney to a bag outside the body.
OSTEOSARCOMA OF THE MANDIBLE
A malignant tumor of the mandible. Presents as a painful mass of the mandible. Early diagnosis and surgery will lead to a high chance of survival.
OSTEOSARCOMA
Cancer of the bone.
OSTEOPOROSIS
Bone density is severely decreased compared to healthy individual. High risk of fracture.
OSTEOPOIKILOSIS
A condition with many bone islands (non cancerous growth) around joints. Usually does not cause pain.
OSTEOPHYTOSIS
A term used to describe the presence of many osteophytes.
OSTEOPHYTE
Abnormal bony growth around joint from wear and tear. This is commonly seen with arthritis. It is not cancerous.
OSTEOPENIA
Bone density is mildly decreased compared to healthy individual. Mild risk of fracture.
OSTEONECROSIS
Death of bone tissue.
OSTEOMYELITIS
Infection of bone.
