CEA (Carcinoembryonic Antigen)
CEA is a type of protein found in the blood. In some types of cancer, CEA can be elevated.
CENTRAL DISC HERNIATION
This is disc material that points towards the center and front of the spinal sac. This can compress and narrow (or squeeze) the spinal space depending on the severity.
CENTRAL LINE
A catheter that is placed into one of the central veins (i.e. internal jugular vein, subclavian vein, common femoral vein). Same as “central venous line”.
CENTRAL VENOUS LINE
A catheter that is placed into one of the central veins (i.e. internal jugular vein, subclavian vein, common femoral vein). Same as “central line”.
CENTRUM SEMIOVALE
A portion of the white matter located just above the corona radiata and under the brain surface.
CEPHALAD
Located towards the head. The opposite is caudad or towards the feet.
CEPHALGIA
Headache.
