CAUDA EQUINA
Describes the tiny nerves coming off the tip of the spinal cord. They resemble the hairs on a horse’s tail, thus the name. When they are squeezed or pinched from spinal stenosis they can cause symptoms of pain or numbness.

Located towards the feet. The opposite of cephalad or towards the head.

Located to or pointing towards the feet.

Also referred to as the caudate nucleus. Is part of the basal ganglia that helps coordinate movement.
