CYTOTOXIC

Usually refers to cytotoxic edema, or edema related to cell death.  This usually occurs as a result of stroke.  It is different than vasogenic edema that usually occurs from infection or tumor.

Inflammation of the bladder.

“Tube” that drains bile (gallbladder liquid).

Technique for sucking out fluid from a cyst, using a small needle.

CYST

Fluid/water sac. Simple cyst means sac containing only fluid. Simple cyst is almost always benign. Complex cyst means there is something other than fluid/water and may/may not be related to cancer. Complex cyst can be followed to make sure it does not become cancer.

CSF

Cerebral Spinal Fluid. It is made in the brain by the choroid plexus.  It is used as a lubricant for the structure of the brain and spinal cord.  If you ever had a spinal tap, or lumbar puncture, the CSF is collected.

CROHN’S DISEASE

Inflammation of intestine. Can involve small intestine or large intestine.

CRICOPHARYGEUS MUSCLE

A muscle sphincter located high in the esophagus that squeezes and opens to allow food and drink to pass into the esophagus or swallowing tube.

CRICOID

A small bone located behind the trachea or windpipe.

CRANIUM

The head.
