A surgical procedure that places catheters or pressure monitors into the ventricles of the brain.

A small vein.

Normal anatomy. The top portion of the cerebellum.

Shrinkage or atrophy.
WERNECKE’S
The part of the brain that helps your speech make sense.
WHITE MATTER
The nerve fibers of the brain that carry information in the form of electrical current.
WHITE MATTER DISEASE
Refers to abnormal white matter. The white matter is the nerve fibers in the brain that carry information in the form of electrical current. Commonly “mini-strokes” or “TIAs” affect the white matter. Other diseases such as infection, inflammation, or tumor, can affect the white matter.
XANTHOGRANULOMA
Benign and not cancerous. Cholesterol deposits in the choroid plexus of the brain. The choroid plexus is a normal structure in the brain.
XANTHOGRANULOMATOUS
A process related to or affecting the choroid plexus of the brain where cholesterol deposits are built up. It is of no consequence. The choroid plexus is a normal structure in the brain.
