CHONDROCALCINOSIS

Calcification of the cartilage.  Can be seen with pseudogout (CPPD arthropathy) but also can be seen as natural process of aging.

CHONDROID

Anything related to cartilage.

CHRONIC

Long standing. Old. Not acute.

COMMINUTED

“Shattered”.  Usually refers to the type of fracture.  Comminuted fracture means broken bone where the fracture line is found in more than one direction.

COMPRESSION DEFORMITY

Deformed appearance the back bone caused by the collapse of a vertebra.  This can be caused by acute or chronic fracture.  Please see “vertebra” and “vertebral body”.

COMPRESSION FRACTURE

Broken spine bone. Fracture causes some degree of collapse within the vertebra.
