NEGATIVE
This is confusing terminology. When this word is used to describe an x-ray, it means that the x-ray is NORMAL. For example, a negative chest x-ray is a normal chest x-ray.
NEOCORTEX
Refers to the large part of the brain containing the frontal lobe. If you think of the brain like a piece of cauliflower, the neocortex is the rough outer layer while the brain stem is the stalk.
NEPHRECTOMY
Surgical removal of kidney.
NEPHROLITHIASIS
Kidney stones.
NEUROFIBROMATOSIS
A disease affecting the nerve tissue of the brain or spinal cord.
NEUROGENIC
Of or referring to the neuron or brain.
NEUROHYPOPHYSIS
The back part of the pituitary gland.
NEUROMA
A tumor related to the nerve cells. In the brain they are referred to as acoustic neuromas and occur in the CPA or cerebello-pontine angle. They are also called vestibular schwanommas and cause symptoms related to hearing loss.
NEURON
The brain cell.
NEURONAL
Of or referring to the neuron or brain. This can also be called “neural”.
