MIDLINE DEVIATION
Also known as midline shift which is a pressure effect on the brain.

Pressure effect in the brain. The brain tissue is pushed to one side.
MILIARY NODULES
Tiny white dots in the lungs on a chest x-ray. These are usually associated with wide spread tuberculosis or fungal infections. The term “miliary” comes from the appearance of millet seeds.
MILK OF CALCIUM
Calcium "residue" that collects within small cysts. This is associated with fibrocystic changes of the breast. This is not cancerous. These look like small white objects that are shaped like contact lenses on the MLO or ML views. These look fuzzy dots on the CC view.
MINOR FISSURE
The border between the right upper lobe and right middle lobe of the right lung. This is only seen in the right lung.
MINOR SALIVARY GLAND
Small salivary gland of the neck. The parotid and submandibular glands are considered the "major" salivary glands.
MINOR SALIVARY GLAND MALIGNANCY
A rare, aggressive, and malignant tumor arising from the minor salivary glands. Treatment usually requires surgery, chemotherapy, and/or radiation.
MIXED DENSITY
A term mostly used in CT scans. It is used when there is bright and dark spots on the CT scan.
MIXED SIGNAL
A term used on MR scans. It is used when there are bright and dark spots on the MR image.
MODIC
Refers to a spectrum or degree of change in the vertebra related to arthritis. Often there are 3 types of Modic changes. Type 1 is early arthritis, type 2 is a later stage of arthritis changes, and type 3 is advanced or late stage arthritis changes.
