
GESTATIONAL SAC
Sac of water that contains fetus/ baby.

GHON COMPLEX
Ghon focus plus enlarged hilar lymph nodes.

GHON FOCUS
A white area in the lung (on a chest x-ray) that is associated with primary tuberculosis.

GLENOHUMERAL
Shoulder join where glenoid (shoulder socket) meets the humerus (long bone in the upper arm).

GLENOID
"Socket" of the shoulder.

GLIOMATOSIS
A malignant cancerous condition of the white matter or “glial” cells of the brain.

GLIOSIS
Refers to the healed appearance of brain tissue after injury, stroke, infection, tumor, or surgery.

GOLDEN S SIGN
Collapse of the right upper lobe caused by a mass near the right hilum. This causes a “S” shaped outline at the upper part of the right lung.

GRADE
Refers to size and appearance of cancer. Generally higher grade is worse.

GRADIENT
A type of MRI sequence that is used to help characterize tissue that contains iron, blood, or calcium.
