FDG-avid
Refers to anything that concentrates FDG (type of sugar used for PET scans). Cancer and infection/inflammation are usually FDG-avid.
FEEDING TUBE
A tube that is placed into the stomach or small intestine. It is "snaked" through the nostril or mouth --> esophagus --> stomach or small intestine. It is used to "feed" the patient by pumping a nutrient liquid through the tube. A Dobhoff tube is a type of a feeding tube.

Long bone in the thigh area.
FETAL POLE
Refers to a very early fetus. Radiologist can guess the age of the baby by measuring the length of the fetus.
FIBROADENOMA
The most common non-cancerous solid mass in the breast. These are common in pre-menopausal women.
FIBROCYSTIC CHANGES (DISEASE)
In this condition, the breasts feel "lumpy bumpy". This is not cancer. This can be associated with breast pain and tenderness.
FIBROID
Common noncancerous growth in the wall of the uterus.
FIBROUS CORTICAL DEFECT
Non-cancerous growth in the bone.
FIBROUS DYSPLASIA
Non-cancerous growth in the bone.
FIFTH CRANIAL NERVE
The fifth cranial nerve is located in the base of the brain or “brain stem”. It helps to supply sensation to the face.
