DEPENDENT

Adjective.  This describes the part of the body that is closest to the ground.  For a person lying down on his back, dependent lungs mean the posterior (back) part of the lungs.  For a person lying on his stomach, dependent lungs mean the anterior (front) part of the lungs.  For a person lying on his right side, dependent lung means the far right part of his right lung.

DERMOID (abdomen)

Commonly found mass in the ovary. Even though they are usually not cancerous, they can cause torsion ("twisting") or rupture ("bursting") of the ovary. To prevent such complication, doctors may decide to remove this mass when large.

An abnormal collection of tissue usually containing fat.  It can be found in the neck and is usually a birth defect and often benign.

DERMOID OF THE ORAL CAVITY

A collection of fluid, tissue, and fat occurring in the neck.  They are also called epidermoids.  They are usually located in the middle of the neck as opposed to the sides.  Patients are usually in their 30s, male, and present with a painless mass which can cause difficulty in swallowing.  They can be treated surgically and removed.
