CHF (Congestive Heart Failure)
Heart not functioning properly. Causes fluid to build up in the lung or in the body.
CHOLANGIOCARCINOMA
Cancer of the bile duct (draining tubes) in the liver.
CHOLECYSTECTOMY
Removal of gallbladder.
CHOLECYSTITIS
"Sick" gallbladder. Acute cholecystitis means "very sick" gallbladder with active inflammation. Chronic cholecystitis means low grade and ongoing mildly "sick" gallbladder. Gallbladder gets "sick" when the tube (cystic duct) draining the liquid (bile) gets clogged. "Sick" gallbladder can also be due to gallbladder not contracting (squeezing) normally.
CHOLECYSTOSTOMY
Placing a tube directly into the gallbladder from outside the body. This can temporarily relieve the pressure inside the gallbladder when there is blockage of bile duct (tubes draining gallbladder).
CHOLESTEATOMA
An abnormal collection of skin and debris usually located near the ear drum. It can cause hearing problems.
CHONDROCALCINOSIS
Calcification of the cartilage. Can be seen with pseudogout (CPPD arthropathy) but also can be seen as natural process of aging.
CHONDROID
Anything related to cartilage.
CHOROID PLEXUS
A normal structure in the brain that is responsible for making brain fluid, or “CSF”.
CHRONIC
Long standing. Old. Not acute.
