CEPHALAD
Located towards the head. The opposite is caudad or towards the feet.
CEPHALGIA
Headache.
CEPHALIC
Of or relating to the brain or head. Located towards the head. The opposite is caudal or towards the feet.
CEPHALIZATION
A chest x-ray finding seen during the earliest stage of pulmonary edema.
CEPHALOHEMATOMA
A bleed of the head usually occurring on the scalp.
CEREBELLOPONTINE ANGLE (CPA)
A fluid space in the brain next to the cerebellum and brain stem where disease can occur. Most commonly cysts, epidermoids, acoustic tumors, and meningiomas can occur in this space.
CEREBELLUM
The part of the brain towards the back of your head that helps with balance and coordination.
CERVICAL
The vertebrae in the neck. Is composed of 7 cervical vertebrae.
CHEMICAL SHIFT ARTIFACT
Occurs on MR scans anywhere there is a fat tissue. Sometimes this is used to help characterize tissue or diseases that contain fat.
CHEST TUBE
A tube that is placed into the pleural space to suck out extra air that results from a pneumothorax (“air leak” from the lung).
