THYROGLOSSAL DUCT CYST
A small fluid collection in the front of the neck just above the "adam's apple". It is related to birth defect and is usually benign.
THYROIDECTOMY
A surgical procedure that removes the thyroid gland. It can be complete or partial.
TISSUE
A piece of flesh from a part of the body (i.e. brain tissue, muscle tissue, breast tissue, skin tissue, etc).
TONGUE BASE
The very back and bottom of the tongue.
TONSILLAR ABSCESS
A collection of infection or pus located in the tonsils of the back of the throat. Patients will have fever, sore throat, and difficulty swallowing. You should be seen by a doctor who will either drain it with a needle and/or put you on antibiotics.
TORNWALDT CYST
A benign cystic growth in the back of the throat. It is non-symptomatic and is usually of no consequence. They can be a cause of bad breath when they get infected.
TR
It is a physics term used in MRI to explain how the image was made. Often this will have a number, or value depending on the MRI scanner.
TRABECULAR THICKENING
This look like thickened web-like lines within the breasts on a mammogram. This can be caused by multiple conditions such as mastitis, inflammatory carcinoma, radiation, surgery, edema and metastatic disease.
TRACER
Refers to the radioactive compound used in Nuclear Medicine exams.
TRACHEA
The main air tube. It connects the mouth/nose to the lungs.
