ACETABULUM
“Socket” of the hip joint.
ACROMIOCLAVICULAR
Between acromion (part of shoulder blade bone) and clavicle (collar bone). You can feel this area on top of your shoulder near the end of the collar bone.
ACROMIOHUMERAL INTERVAL
Space between acromion (part of shoulder blade bone) and humerus in the shoulder. This space can be narrowed when there is injury to the rotator cuff. Widening of this space can be also seen with joint fluid.
ACROMION
Part of the scapula (large triangular bone in the upper back on each side) that meets the collar bone.
ACUTE
Active process. Relatively recent event.
ANGULATION
Forming an angle. Usually used in reference to a broken bone, where two broken pieces form an angle where they meet.
ANTERIOR
Front part of something.
ANTEROLISTHESIS
One spine bone slipped forward relative to the other spine bone.
ARTHROPATHY
Bone disease. All inclusive term that deals with any bone disease.
ARTICULAR
Anything related to the end of the bone, where one bone meets another bone.
